Holographics other then Tupac.

My fashion heads, we have another trend to talk about, this one similar to my talk about metallics, so I'm not going to talk your ear off about this one. Holographic were seen big time on the run way during fashion week. I love when things from my childhood are reinvented in modern and fashionable ways. 90's babies who remembers seeing Chili or any member from TLC wearing holographic fashion, or these crazy cray glasses that would have creepy skeletons or animals in the lenses?

But now we have not so tacky ways of wearing holographic colors on us in more chic and wearable ways.
Jeffrey Campbell Wedges, Urban Outfitters oxfords. Just to name a few of the favorites. Adding something like this to a simple outfit would really be fresh and unique. One of my fashionable instagram friends shows a great way to add her Celine hologram clutch for a night out with the girls.
Stand out Space Cadet!!

Lusting over Fashion Week

My Fashion Heads, as I lust over any and everyone who has attended fashion week this week, of maybe ever, I just hope to my self that one day I will be invited to a show, you don't have to sit me in the front row, just to be there and have the experience would be my everything. I have to say, that when I surf the Internet during FW I find my self being more interested in the outfits of the fashionista's going to the shows rather then seeing the pieces that are coming down the runway, shameful? I love seeing the ladies of fashion outside Lincoln Center lining up for all the papps wearing art , art to me because it speaks such volume as it would to an art major going to MOMA. You can see who each of these woman or men are by what they are wearing and how creative their minds are.  Seeing how they represent how they feel right there on their bodies for the world to see, gives me goose bumps. I always say, when you dress to impress for something as extravagant (to me) and fun filled as FW, its all about the laying, laying goodness, and necessary with blizzard Nemo who hit the first of FW, bastard. Quirky you might call some looks, maybe even bizarre, but that's was fashion is, not cookie cutter, not borrring, STAND OUT, SPEAK VOLUME, TURN HEADS, and most importantly there's the fun factor. My MECA inspiring fashion blogger Leandra Medine (The Man Repeller) said in a recent video that, fashion is a way to escape  and forget about something and step into another character, be #oneofakind. Love that!
Here for your eyes are some of my favorite girls and the outfit they worn to this years FW thus far, street style of you will.

Happy Valentine's Day

Metallics are back?!

My Fashion heads, .

As I said in my last post, I wanna talk about trends this week, and what trends we have to look forward to when this freezing your ass off weather says good bye. I heard some where, I don't know if it was on another blog or on instagram, but someone said "Metallics are back" and I thought to myself "back?!" when did they leave, that's like saying black is back, or Justine Timberlake trying to say "he brought sex back",  I was never aware it left. As far as I can see, I would say Metallics have been transformed and brought into some what better use, so bad choice of words for who ever said ITS BACK. Scouring the Internet I have noticed metallics are being used a lot more in inovative ways then in previous season, and I salute who ever decided to do that. I have always been fond of the use of a good gold, bronze of silver to add to an outfit. I'm a girl of sparkle and to have a more subtle way to "sparkle" your self is always a good thing in my book. I really can't tell you how excited I am for warmer weather, these past weeks in New York we haven't gotten over 20 degrees, it makes it extremely hard to get out of your cozy bed, go to the 9 to 5 job you hate and not to mention get dressed in the morning and be warm and fashionable. So looking through designers look books for the warm season to come are giving me the slight bit of hope that we are almost out of the clear. Back to these metallics, I find the best way to wear is to be subtle with it, although this metallic bronze dress I might have to get (bday present to my self, thanks). Wearing a metallic shoe is alwaaays perfect, but maybe try this spring a metalic denim, or boot. Go out of the box of golds & silvers and try a cobalt blue or hot pink, less might be more with those colors for you so just add a pop to your normal outfit, maybe with a white T, jeans and stacked jewelry, SET!
Handbags and nails are joining in and I say weerk it!
Lets think warm bright thoughts fashion heads and
Happy Fashion Week New York!

Sequin in the New Year!

My fashion heads, Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a great holiday and are adjusting to 2013 well. Usually I'm not a resolutions person, because I think those "resolutions are easily broken by Febuary, I like to set goals and achievements I want for myself that I would like to try and have accomploshed for that year. Being a woman one of those goals is always eating healthier and loosing a couple of Lbs, but whose isn't?! As the year goes on I will share with you some of my goals I have set for myself and I hope to have a great and fashionable year!

Like some of you may have done, I bought some special clothes to wear around the holidays, and one of those pieces happen to be a sparkly thing of a sequin baseball bomber jacket in bright blue. Sequins I think are the overlooked asset to a great outfit, whether that's a dressed up or down one. Once I saw this jacket I knew it was special, special because I saw me having many ways to be worn and having many partners to go with in my closet, not just a one hit wonder. I know what your thinking, sequins? Sequins are not just a holiday or special occasion date, it's something that can liven up that casual outfit and make you shine and smile. I decided to do just that here.  I paired this sequin jacket with a cut off tshirt reading "Expensive Love" (some would say "oh how fitting"), drop crotch pants, which I think are better alternatives to sweat pants but can still give you that comfy lounge feeling, leopard kicks, because leopard goes with just about anything, and this new Cccichy clutch I got myself for Christmas, she's kind of a flirt.  What would have been a rather boring outfit, is gleaming in the sun for a cool and chic weekend look, so take out those "fancy" sparkles and pair them with some of your casual pieces for that second time around and be the talk of the town.

Who holds all the power?.. From the eye of the bag-holder

My Fashion heads, yesterday while out window shopping I came across my very own impromptu experiment. During my work break you can usually find me walking around the mall, every other day I'm forced to go there because our office bank's there. So I choose to get some cardio by walking through some of my favorite stores to pass time and breathe some fresh fashion air. Well, while browsing through (I don't think I'm going to give out the name, but it was a high end store), I was going through their clearance bin of handbags ("after the holiday" mark downs are this girls best friend). Now let me tell you, in toe with me was my Christmas gift from hubby, my new Celine bag, aahhhh!!! Like I said, I do go to the mall pretty regularly, so much that some people at other stores think I would work in the mall, not a good look, but I really don't care, as long as people don't start asking me to get them a size. Like I was saying, I was digging through the clearance bin, holding up a nice Marc by Marc Jacobs cobalt blue cross body when a sales woman approached me, asked if I needed help, when I said my usual "no thanks I'm just looking" she then complimented me on my bag, telling me how stunning it was, asking where I had gotten it, when I told her from my husband for Christmas, she smiled and started telling me about her holiday and then started talking about her presents, then to her kids, it was about a 5 min convo. She followed me around for a few minutes, giving her two sense on other things I was looking at, as if I didn't have my own brain to think that "that bag is very cute" (I really hate that, but that's another topic). I go back to the bin of bags and grab another , go over to the mirror to take a look and another sales woman approaches me, tells me how stunning my bag is, compliments me on the bag I was holding then recommends me to see a fancy bag in the glass case, OK the glass case! Not once have I EVER been offered to see anything in a glass case, even looking at watches I would normally have to beg a sales girl to open it, and after getting some eyes rolls I was helped. She's showing me all the new merchandise they just got in and all the different colors these wallets came in. All awhile thinking to myself, "what makes this shopping experience and ME any different from all the other times I browsed through this store" then I looked down, this is my bag doing all the work here! All because of this beautiful, red babe I had on my arm, I was the stores biggest catch! Did they think I had thousands in my wallet ready to spend and they would be receiving a heffty comish, were they just being polite because I was "the rich girl" at the time in the store.  I have gone in this store NUMEROUS times carrying less expensive bags and have not had more then a "hello how are you" and now the women are practically throwing themselves at me and wanting to show me the good EXPENSIVE stuff, you had to be there, I'm telling you. It's sad to say that I was not able to exactly ask these woman, "what is it, is it my bag, is it that you have received poor feedback on customer service and that's why your all up my ass? what is it?!"  Then it got me reminiscing about one of my favorite movies, Pretty Woman, where she goes to Rodeo Drive to shop and in the first store things were "very expensive" and they wouldn't let her shop. No I have never been told to leave a store, frankly it's because I don't go into stores dressed like a hooker, sorry Viv, but I do 100% believe we receive better customer service depending on how we dress, and especially in higher end stores.  I took a stab at this topic on my personal Facebook page and the responses were all unanimous, my other friends have received the same treatment when shopping. When dressed a certain way we get treated differently. So does this really mean that the power is in the eye of the bag-holder? OR were all the woman at ____ about to catch the FLU and running high fevers? The world may never know....

"They won't let her shop!"
